<p class=MsoNormal>Op dinsdag 15 juni 2010 is een 30-jarige man uit Leiden
aangehouden op verdenking van fraude met de OV-chipkaart. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Met speciale apparatuur kopieerde de man (niet op naam
gestelde) OV-chipkaarten zodat hij meermalen kon reizen op het saldo van de
oorspronkelijke kaart. Deze vorm van fraude komt in het fraudedetectiesysteem
van Trans Link Systems, het bedrijf dat het OV-chipkaartsysteem beheert, direct
boven water. Het bedrijf heeft daarop in maart 2010 aangifte gedaan bij het
openbaar ministerie in Utrecht. De Bovenregionale Recherche van de politie
Haaglanden heeft de fraude onderzocht. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Het strafrechtelijk onderzoek, onder andere naar het
reispatroon van de vervalste OV-chipkaarten, leidde tot de persoon van de
verdachte. De man wordt onder andere verdacht van het vervalsen van
waardekaarten (artikel 232 van het Wetboek van Strafrecht). Hij is vandaag
heengezonden en zal zich later voor de rechter moeten verantwoorden voor de
gepleegde fraude. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Omdat het bedrijf Trans Link Systems gevestigd is in
Amersfoort heeft het aangifte gedaan bij het openbaar ministerie in Utrecht. Er
is niet eerder aangifte gedaan van fraude met de OV-chipkaart. Dit onderzoek
laat zien dat misbruik van een OV-chipkaart niet alleen snel gesignaleerd
wordt, maar ook goed kan worden opgespoord. De maximale straf voor het delict
vervalsen van een waardekaart is een celstraf van zes jaar of een geldboete van
76.000 euro.<o:p></o:p></p>
